Berlin: Film City

In 2006, I was invited by the Goethe Institut to attend the Berlin International Film Festival. I was excited to rediscover the city as a filmic epicenter. The Potsdamer Platz complex hosts dozens of cinemas, the Berlinale Palast, the Filmhaus Museum, the dffb German Film and Television Academy… no doubt it is a city commited to cinema, for filmmakers and especially for cinephiles. One year later, while the Berlinale took place many miles away, the German Cultural Center of Monterrey, exhibited some of the images I took which share the experiece, but at the same time are a personal photographic exploration.

En 2006, fui invitado por el Goethe Institut a asistir al Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín. Estaba emocionado de redescubrir la ciudad como epicentro cinematográfico. El complejo Potsdamer Platz acoge decenas de cines, el Berlinale Palast, el Filmhaus Museum, la dffb German Film and Television Academy… sin duda es una ciudad comprometida con el cine, para los cineastas y especialmente para los cinéfilos. Un año después, mientras se realizaba la Berlinale, el Centro Cultural Alemán de Monterrey, exhibió algunas de las imágenes que tomé y que comparten la experiencia, pero a la vez son una exploración fotográfica personal.
