SYNOPSIS:
Every 28th of October St. Jude Thaddaeus is celebrated at his shrine in Monterrey, Mexico. He is the patron saint of difficult causes. Thousands of devotees stand in line for hours to solicit or thank his saintly intercession, even if the encounter lasts only for a few seconds.
SINOPSIS:
Cada 28 de octubre se celebra a San Judas Tadeo, el santo patrono de las causas difíciles, en su santuario de Monterrey. Miles de devotos hacen fila por varias horas para agradecer la intercesión del Santo, aunque el encuentro dure apenas unos segundos.

Causas Difíciles

In the many years I have been attending the celebration, as photographer and filmmaker, I have always been amazed by the perfect syncretism that takes place between the Spanish and the Mexican, the contemporary and the ancient, the religious and the profane, the faithful and the pagan. But what amazes me the most is the unquestionable belief that links our spirit to the unreachable, the need for deliverance that makes us utterly human.
En los años que he asistido a esta celebración, como fotógrafo y como cineasta, siempre me ha sorprendido el sincretismo perfecto entre lo español y lo mexicano, lo contemporáneo y lo antiguo, lo religioso y lo profano, la fe y lo pagano. Pero lo que más me sorprende es la creencia incuestionable que encadena el espíritu a lo inalcanzable, la necesidad de salvación que nos hace irreduciblemente humanos.
